Holy shit. It’s been nearly a year since I last logged into this dusty old blog. Where do I even start? A year in internet-years is basically an eternity. Plenty of time to be completely forgotten in the digital realm. So, I guess now’s as good a time as any to start anew. Then again, I could try and summarize everything that’s happened in the last year in rapid succession. Let’s give it a shot!
It’s been a long and eventful year. So much shit has happened. I bought a small 2 kilogram coffee roaster and then proceeded to learn everything that I could about the art of coffee roasting. Kind of an ambitious task, but I felt up to the challenge, you know… because I’m not busy enough already.
We received the roaster back in February of 2018 and managed to get it up and running by early March. As with most humble beginnings, this one also started in a garage. A no frills and straight to the point layout with few distractions. It turns out that roasting coffee has a lot of similarities to the BBQ arts that I’ve been dabbling in for the past couple of years. It’s one of those things that doesn’t come easy and takes effort; like learning guitar or something of that nature. Anyone can roast mediocre coffee, but it takes finesse to be able to do it well… and I’ve been trying to do it as well as I am able.
I’m going to assume that the majority of people reading this, know little about coffee roasting. That’s fine. Up until a few years ago, I knew little as well. No worries.
Despite my strong start on this blog, I’m getting pretty tired now, and I’m not sure how much more I’m wanting to write. Perhaps I should start using my youtube channel a bit more. It would be far easier for me to speak than to take the time to type all of these things out on a regular basis.
