Restored Memories

Today I spent a few hours working on transferring an old tape recording of a wedding in 1962 for a guy who is looking to both re-live and share this moment with his family and loved ones as this couple celebrates their 50th anniversary. It is fairly common for people to have photographs of their wedding and perhaps a rare few have video, but there aren’t that many people that have audio recordings of their wedding. I enjoy the challenges of transferring and restoring old recordings. I especially enjoy seeing the looks on my clients faces when they get to re-live these moments with new clarity.

Sometimes my job is pretty cool.

Office Overload

Office overload!!!! Lots of stuff going on at the studio today on the technology front. I recently purchased a new macbook pro and am transferring a number of applications and preference files from my old macbook via migration assistant. My old macbook oreo is going to be giving up it’s mobility to become a full-time addition to the recording studio. It will now handle all of my analog to digital media transfers. I’m super psyched about my new laptop. This was a much needed upgrade.

Sleepy Kitty

I came out of the studio and found Bootsy Collins completely passed out on the bed. She must be exhausted from all of the eating and sleeping that she does all day. She’s kinda cute sometimes.

Laundry Jail

Laundry Jail: Population... 1

I had assumed that this would startle Maximus Prime (the cat in jail). However, shortly after I placed him in Laundry Jail, he went to sleep. So much for trying to reform him into a productive member of society. He’s going to be on kitty cat welfare for life!

Fireside Lounging

Fireside Lounging

There’s nothing like listening to records while sitting in front of the fireplace on a snowy/sleety afternoon in the midwest. I hope the rest of you are doing your best to keep warm. I’m going to maintain my current post and do my best to keep up with Words with Friends.

Oh, and in others news… broken drum sticks make for excellent fire-pokers. Just one of the many possibilities to repurpose these old pieces of wood.

Bounce With Me

Bounce & Transfer

Spending the afternoon going through old recordings of local shows and transferring them to the computer whilst enjoying a cup of coffee. I have over 30 sessions collecting dust on this 4-track. I’m hoping to put them up on Musical Family Tree within the next day or so.

Some of the performances I am transferring…
1. The Soil & The Sun
2. Heavy Cream
3. Timbre
4. Chad Serhal
5. Osteoferocious
6. The Bonesetters
7. Wooden Boxes
8. Metavari
9. Two Mini Humans
