Workin’ in the Workshop

I spent the majority of my morning and early afternoon soldering up some XLR cables and watching episodes of Futurama on Netflix. I have a ton of cables to make before I will have enough to properly test my new mobile recording studio. I am planning to test it out this coming Friday at Doc’s Music Hall. The plan is to record When, Not If’s last performance at Doc’s before they move down to Austin, Texas. It was only after I decided to debut it on this particular Friday that I realized it was going to be Friday the 13th! What are the odds that it was going to come down to that particular date? Ah well, it’s a good thing I’m not superstitious. Now where in the hell did I put that 4-leaf clover?

I know, I know… There aren’t a whole lot of people out there that get excited about kale. I get it. I understand. However, I feel like the delicious potential of this leafy green is often overlooked due to it’s tendency to cause horrendous gas and/or mulch-like diarrhea.

I must that that I, myself,  was worried as to whether or not these two ingredients would play well together. But despite the odds, they actually complimented each other rather nicely and resulted in a delicious and semi-nutritious dish. I bet it would have been even better had the chorizo actually been decent and not just some imitation sausage covered in chili powder and sold as chorizo.

That’s all you get. I’m not much for typing up recipes being that I hardly ever follow them.

New Whip

So I decided to sell my old car and buy a new one. Something that was more suitable to my current and future needs. I can tell you that there are very few things on this Earth that make becoming a responsible adult more apparent than purchasing a car. I looked at dozens of cars and held them up to the scrutiny of my preference list which included everything from cup-holder size to baby car-seat compatibility. Yes, I do eventually plan on having a little minion with my soon-to-be wife… and I intend on this car lasting FOREVER.

So I opted for the Scion XB which was weird because up until this point I have only owned Honda vehicles. I am quite fond of Honda but they just weren’t delivering the type of quality I wanted at a price that I could justify. Don’t get me wrong, I love Honda’s. It just wasn’t in my budget to get one. That being said, the Scion XB was perfect for my particular needs. The local dealership made the process as painless as could be. I hope you all dig the color as much as I do. I had to special order it for my area.

Sometimes I come out of the studio to find weird/interesting things going on in the house. Today has been one of those days. I’m convinced that our two cats have magical nap-inducing powers. It appears that Lauren has become their latest victim. It all starts with a belly rub and the next thing you know… you’ve been asleep for 5 hours. Cute little bastards.

Lauren and I decided to get our collective burrito on today. She had not previously been to Moe’s and being that I had previously been a wee bit more than content with a pulled pork burrito from this particular chain restaurant, she was wanting to check it out for herself. So, I obliged and took her on a nice burrito date. As you can tell from this picture, we are eating outdoors. This is because Lauren enjoys eating outdoors. I don’t. I prefer to eat in an air-conditioned space that is free of direct sunlight and bugs. That’s just me.
